Monday is my favorite day, because we have (11) in the afternoon. Our teacher, Mr. Wang, has taught at our school for twenty years. He always asks us to run around the field twice before we touch a ball. Some students think this is boring. (12) Running makes the heart stronger, and a strong heart sends blood to every part of the body. Last week we played dodge ball, and my team lost by two points. (13), we will learn how to catch a high ball without hurting our hands. I am not good at sports, (14) I have fun in every class.
My cousin Ken loves baseball more than anything else. He has played on the school team (15) he was nine, and he practices every afternoon on the field behind the gym. He is the best player in his class, and he holds the (16) with both hands when he stands at the plate. Last Sunday his team played an important game against a school in Taichung. Ken ran to third base and then ran home. (17) His father, who almost never leaves his office early, came to watch and cheered all afternoon. (18), Ken practices even on rainy days, because he wants to make more progress this year.
Mom: The bus leaves at 12:40. Please be at the bus stop ten minutes early.
Ken: All right. I have to return a book to the library first.
Mom: Aunt Lisa sent me this.

Mom: She got two seats behind third base. A famous player from Japan will play this autumn, so the seats sold out fast.
Ken: Great! I will bring my cap and a bottle of water.
Ball Game Week is coming, and this semester it will be bigger than ever.
Ball Game Week is always held in the week before the Dragon Boat Festival. All games start at 3:30 p.m. and end before 5:00 p.m. The form outside the PE office indicates how many players each class must send. Please write your names on it before Monday. Students who sign up late cannot join.
Parents are welcome to watch. They may sit under the big trees beside the court, but not behind the white line. We appreciate the help of every parent. Remember to bring a bottle of water, because the weather will be hot.
Hi Judy,
I am glad you are back from Taipei. Are you free this Saturday afternoon? My aunt works at the sports center near the mall, and she gave me two free tickets for the badminton court. I have not played since the school game last month, so I am a little afraid that I will lose to you again.
The court opens at two, but it is always full after four, so let us meet at one thirty. If it rains, we can go bowling on the third floor of the mall, where students pay only half price before five.
Please bring a bottle of water. I will bring some rice balls. Our Chinese teacher says I should eat before I play, so I will eat a big lunch. Call me before Friday night.
Ken
When you run, jump, or kick a ball, your whole body is working hard. Your heart beats faster so that it can send blood to every part of your body, and your bones slowly grow stronger.
Doctors say that students who exercise for thirty minutes a day sleep better at night and remember more in class the next morning. Exercise also helps people who feel sad, because the brain makes something that brings a happy feeling.
However, more is not always better. If the floor is wet, you may slip and hurt your leg. If you feel pain, you should stop and rest. We must learn to take care of ourselves; a good player knows when to run, and also knows when to sit down.
